| HIGHWAY 1 ALIGNMENT & AREA NETWORK PLANNING STUDY The Government of Alberta has conducted a planning study for the future Highway 1 Alignment and
Area Network. Highways 1 is designated as a future freeways, with access only via interchanges.
A long term planning study has been completed by McElhanney Consulting to identify the ultimate interchange locations for a freeway standard at a conceptual level. Update: December 1st, 2011 Please find attached a map which outlines the proposed changes to the #1 Highway as it passes through Strathmore. This preliminary plan was unveiled as a recent open house hosted be the Provincial Department of Highways. As you can see from the map, the new plan diverts traffic around Strathmore.
